Skill level requirement: this is NOT a learn to sew class; you must have sewn in the recent past, and be confident operating a sewing machine independently. See below for more info. If you're a total beginner, check out our Sewing 101 Workshops.
Whether you're a sewing newbie or a confident beginner wanting to tackle zipper projects, this class is for you! Our expert instructor will teach you sewing basics while you make two lined zipper pouches: One larger pouch, perfect for makeup or an on-the-go project bag, and a second, smaller pouch, ideal for change, credit cards... you name it! Here’s what we’ll cover:
- Basic intro to a sewing machine, including how to sew a straight seam.
- How to cut fabric accurately
- Pinning and sewing seams
- How to create a lining for each pouch
- How to sew a squared, flat bag bottom
- How to install a zipper
Basic sewing experience and comfort using a sewing machine is required for this workshop! If you think you need a bit of practice before tacking this project, check out our Sewing 101 workshops here. If you're unsure if you're qualified for this workshop, just shoot us an email summarizing your experience and we'll be happy to chat!
