$95.00
Interested in attending but no sessions available that fit your schedule? Please fill out this form and we will notify you when new sessions are added!
Learn to knit socks! If you're an intermediate knitter looking to tackle more complex projects, this workshop is for you!
In this three-part workshop, we'll work through the Shorty Sock by Summer Lee Design Co. (the Basic B version). You will learn how to:
- Use the magic loop knitting technique
- Make a heel flap and turn the heel
- Pick up stitches
- Shape with decreases
- Grafting using Kitchner Stitch
- Follow a sock pattern
Due to the slow nature of knitting, you likely will not finish the sock during class hours. However, we will cover all of the trickiest parts, and you'll be well-prepared to finish on your own! Please note that this class moves at a fast pace and is the most advanced knitting class that we offer. Please call or email the shop if you aren't sure if this class is right for you.
This is three-part workshop taking place on the following dates:
- Tuesday 11/5 6:30-8:30pm
- Tuesday 11/12 6pm-7pm
- Tuesday 11/19 6:30-8:30pm
SKILL REQUIREMENTS: This is an advanced level knitting workshop. In order to register, you must have confidence in the following knitting skills, and have practiced them in the recent past. We also encourage you to take at least one Knitting 101, 102, and 103 class before taking this class or have equivalent experience. We also recommend that you come into class having using DK weight or smaller yarn on at least one project. Due to the group nature of this workshop, we will not be able to provide instruction on the below.
- Casting on
- Binding off
- Knitting in the round
- Ribbing (knitting and purling)
- Working with smaller needles and yarn
Not required but helpful to have some experience with:
- shaping using decreases (k2 tgth and SSK)
- Kitchner stitch (the instructor will demo this technique during class, however you most likely will tackle this step on your own after class)
If you need a refreshed on any of the above, join us for a Knitting 102: Knit a Striped Summer Top , Knit a Bow Headband , or Knit a Market Bag and/or a Knitting 103 class: Stranded Colorwork or Fixing Mistakes to get some practice in and build your skills! Don't worry, we will offer this class again in the future so take your time skilling up so you can get the most out of this one when you're ready :-)
