Please note: All class registrations are final; please view our Cancellation Policy and Covid-19 Policy for more information. By registering for this workshop, you are agreeing to abide by these policies. Thank you for supporting our small business!

Skill level requirement: this is NOT a learn to sew class; you must have sewn in the recent past, and be confident operating a sewing machine independently. See below for more info. If you're a total beginner, check out our Sewing 101 Workshops.

Step up your bag sewing game and make an Open Studios Hip Pack!

This hip pack pattern has lots of pro details including webbing tabs and zipper tabs that give it a super clean look. Available in two sizes! Large fits notebook and water bottle; small is perfect for just your keys, wallet and phone. Wear it slung ‘cross-body or around your hips - either way you’ll be hands free stylin’.

In this workshop, we’ll cover how to:

  • Create a lined bag from start to finish
  • Make a crossbody/hip strap out of webbing
  • Install a zipper, plastic buckle, and strap slider
  • Please note: Students can choose to make either the small or large version of this bag. The bag will be lined.

Skill level: This is confident-beginner level workshop. Recent sewing experience is required! While you don't need to be an expert level sewer to take this workshop, this shouldn't be your first or second project. Ideally you have sewn at least a few projects in the recent past and are very comfortable using a sewing machine. Our Sewing 101 workshop (or equivalent experience) is a minimum prerequisite. If you're unsure if you're qualified for this workshop, just shoot us an email summarizing your experience and we'll be happy to chat!
