COURSE DESCRIPTION

Calling all crafty kiddos! Come get creative with us and learn to sew on a sewing machine!

In this multi-week course, children aged 8-12 will learn to sew with a sewing machine and gain an understanding of sewing basics as they make a variety of projects. Students will leave this class with the skills and confidence to tackle more sewing as they develop valuable exposure to creativity, design, fine motor skills, construction/assembly, and more.

Your child will learn:

  • How to thread a sewing machine
  • How to sew confidently on a machine (machines will be provided to students during class)
  • Sewing basics such as proper fabric prep, body measuring, pinning, cutting, and trouble shooting
  • How to sew seams correctly and evenly
  • How to flex their creative muscles and put their personal spin on their projects with color and design choices!
  • The amazing feeling when they get to say, "I made it myself!"

Course Curriculum
Students will complete a variety of sewing projects during this course, such as:

  • Bags
  • Simple Garments
  • Accessories
  • More depending on student pace & the number of weeks in session
  • Projects progress in difficulty to build each student's sewing skills, and projects change each session for students who sign up for multiple sessions!

Students will learn in a small group environment, with a max class size of 6. Our staff-child ratio is 1:4, allowing hands-on instruction for each student.
